Neat hinged lid jewelry or trinket box made of the rare mineral Charoite with brass frame and hardware. Charoite is a rare silicate mineral, though reportedly discovered in 1940's, it was first described in 1978 and named for the Chara River. It has been reported only from the Sakha Republic, Siberia, Russia. This beautiful box showing the fibrous structure and richly saturated purple color representative of the most desirable examples of this material. Measures 4 1/4" L x 2 7/8" W x 2 1/4" H. Weighs 13oz.
