278 - 2 CHINESE CARVED ROSEWOOD HORSESHOE BACK CHAIRS
Beautiful hardwood horseshoe back low chairs. What could easily be dismissed as an elegant floral scrollwork design- a stylized dragon adorn each side, seemingly in pursuit and 2 dragons on the front, each facing a flaming pearl. Flared, inverted raised wings to each side- reminiscent of those on an alter table. Raised on claw and ball feet. Purchased secondhand in China in the 1960's. Overall measurement 26-1/2" W x 24" D x 30" H. Seat is 13" off the ground without cushion. 25 photos.
