18th Century Mexican Painting-Virgin, Child, St. Anne. A stunning painting depicting the Virgin and Child with Saint Anne before an open window through which a lovely landscape is visible, this composition modeled after an Italian Renaissance artist, most likely a Venetian, possibly of the Bassano family. The technique follows practices favored in 18th Century Mexico involving pigments ground in terracotta then layered with oils and varnish. Mounted in an original gilded wood frame. Measures 45" L x 38" W. Weighs 25 lb.
