Beautiful stylized butterfly wall lamp having silk wings and bronzed ceramic head. Very neat exotic lighted wall art sculpture. It was created between 2014 and 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico by Barbara Woods. Inspired by the designs and colors found on this species of butterflies, the wings were hand painted on silk using resists and steam-set permanent dyes. Backed on heavy plastic each wing is finished with suede and rayon trim. The idea of wings emerging from the base of a flower, added a playful perspective of uniting a plant with an insect. The head or base is sculpted out of clay and is designed to hold the wings and socket. A mold was created and only 45 resin casts were made, the surface is finished with an acrylic patina to compliment the wings. It’s wired with a UL approved socket, a maximum 13 watt LED bulb is recommended. The silk wings & head can be lightly vacuumed or wiped with a clean damp cloth. We were notified that we have it displayed incorrectly, with one of the mid wings down, please see flyer for proper position. Measures 30" W x 24" H x 12" D. Weighs 3lbs.,4oz.
